About Theatre Aspen

Theatre Aspen has a long history of bringing professional theatre productions and theatre training to the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. As the organization continues to grow, many accomplishments are completed each year. Come and enjoy the talents of local actors as they perform in a beautiful and well-tended little oasis by the river.

The plays are performed in the Theatre Aspen in the Park tent located behind Rio Grande Park.

June25 – Aug 21 Music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty Based on an Original Concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx Winner of three TONY® Awards including Best Musical, AVENUE Q tells the grown up, sometimes shockingly funny story of a guy and his “felt” friends seeking their Purpose in life!

HOW I BECAME A PIRATE (a new musical) *

July 10th – August 18th Book, Music and Lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt & Mark Friedman Based on the Book “How I Became A Pirate” by Melinda Long, with Illustrations by David Shannon Join a band of pirates on this fantastic musical excursion to bury their treasure.Based on the beloved children’s book by Melinda Long. All ages.

THE 39 STEPS *

July 25th - August 18th Adapted by Patrick Barlow, from the novel by John Buchan Mix Hitchcock with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have a fast-paced whodunit and an unforgettable evening for anyone who loves the magic of theatre!
